From: "BONES" To: Subject: sighting? Date: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 01:10:11 -0000 Hi, I have a story that you may be interested in. A friend of mine has just called me and told me of an event that occurred at just 7pm this evening. The date is Sunday 16th of March 1998. Where i can I will try and use his descriptions to the best of my memory. It was told to me by the person involved, who is a sceptic of "unexplained phenomena". My friends stepfather was outside his house at 7pm, when the whole area was lit by an incredible light. He says the whole raod was lit with light not disimilar to lightning, but was much brighter, gave NO noise, and lasted for far too long to actually be lightning. The duration is said to have been about a second and a half with none of the usual flickering often given by lightning. On looking up, he saw that the sky was relatively clear, with a small amount of high level but quite patchy cloud. Very high up, about the same distance from the ground to the clouds agian, there was a large area of what he says looked like smoke. As he looked, he saw what he describes as a sort of sparkling effect that lasted a few seconds then stopped. On seeing this flash, then the cloud with the 'lights', he went inside and got his partner, who joined him outside about 3 mins later. The cloud was still there, which he describes as a 'large round cloud, sort of pillar shaped'. On looking at this, he says that they heard what seemed like a cross between a motorcycle engine and a helicopter. This lasted for about 30 seconds and then stopped. This is all he said, I have no idea how long the cloud remained after this. I have read so many articles in the area of the unexplained as it is an interest of mine (which is why my friend called me). I have no wish to claim it was anything in particular, but the story appears odd enough to be questioned. Weather reports and air traffic info might be useful to determine the phenomenon, but I have no access to this info at this time. It has been suggested to me that it might have been an aircrash, meteor or weather effect. This is I believe quite possible, but because he says it appeared right above his house, this seems unlikely as he would have soon known about the debris in the case of a crash. Nonetheless I thought you might find it interesting. The area in question is directly above 'Central Park', Plymouth, England. Thankyou for your time. Cheers, Bones... -------------------------------------------------------- From: "BONES" To: "Mothership." Subject: "lightning" update Date: Mon, 16 Mar 1998 09:04:36 -0000 Hi guys. This is Bones with a follow up to last nights "lightning" sighting. 13 hours later (this morning at 8am GMT) a local news report stated that if anyone saw the lights, they were not to worry as they were caused by a meteorite, which fell into the sea (the Plymouth Sound). Thought youd like to know. Of course, conspiracy theory would perhaps take this further, but as usual, with little evidence to go on. Cheers, Bones...
