Contrail

This sketch was made by the investigator (MSC, 12/24/99) under the supervision of F and Y who agreed this represented a typical contrail appearance (trail about as wide as object). As noted, the "puff" shrank as it dissipated. The contrail was about as wide as the emitter.

"Bullet" and Sphere

2) The "bullet" and sphere as seen from Observation Point 3. Note that the shading at the rear is just to emphasize the flatness of that part of the object and was not actually observed.

Much discussion was held concerning these sketches. Initially, the investigator (MSC) believed the witness was interpolating the appearance of the objects, because as sketched, the objects are nose down and nose up respectively - if this were not so, (1) would be showing the front bottom of the object and the nose would be higher than the tail, and (2) would be showing the rear bottom of the object, with the nose lower than the tail - that would be a normal perspective effect. But the witness insisted that the presentation was as observed, even after understanding the above.

The sketches suggest that while the objects may have maintained a level flight trajectory, during that trajectory the attitude of the "bullet" changed from pitch down (possibly more than 45 degrees) to pitch up just before disappearance (possibly more than 30 degrees).

Note that while the interview mentions "fins", the sketches suggest that F never had an opportunity to observe a second fin, but simply assumed the symmetry.

This image shows the views of the object based on their position on the trajectory. It has not yet (12/24/99) been determined if the curvature represents a real trajectory or not. The relative elevations do not (and are probably not intended to) match the site reenactment (also note East is really SE and W is really NW); at disappearance, the elevation was reduced by about 10 or more degrees from appearance, though that may have been a perspective effect.
